 THE PUNK style
     - STYLE 101 -

More often, I like to add an element of punk to my look. I have always been naturally attracted to the rock style of the 70s, the kohled eyes, bold nail colors, leather jackets, short black skirts. studded shoes, ear cuffs. I remember the time when I had even dyed my hair red in my college days- a few strands though. I love to paint my nails in black very often, infact, I always carry a black nail color in my bag. My shopping from my last trip to Goa included a lot of metal jewelry, earcuffs and unusual jewelry which I almost wear every other day. The DIY torn jeans, loose black Tees rule my wardrobe. Also, I've been collecting a  lot of rosaries and cross pendants for quite a few years. The love never ends. Imagine, I wear them to work too! The pictures in this post are all my favorites. Notice the safety pins on the jacket, thick eye brows, rings, the hair. Love them all!

BLENDERS PRIDE FASHION TOUR HYD 2014                                       EVENTS

MONICA DOGRA

NARGIS FAKHRI

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SHOW: COLLECTION SHOWCASED BY DESIGNERS PANKAJ & NIDHI, NAMRATA JOSHIPURA
LIVE PERFORMANCE BY MONICA DOGRA

Dark, bold, mysterious and glamorous,
the Seagram's Blenders Pride Fashion Tour is known for all of these that set this show apart from the rest of the fashion events that happen through out the year.
When it comes to dressing up for such events, we girls usually take time to zero down on one outfit. However, it did not take much time for me to decide what I wanted to wear. I chose a black long jacket with a crop top and fitted trousers. I threw on a gold toned neckpiece to highlight the outfit and completed the look with black pointed pumps. I tried experimenting with my hair to make them look different from how I usually wear them - open and wavy.
The show featured two outstanding collections by designers Pankaj & Nidhi and Namrata Joshipura.  While  Pankaj & Nidhi's collection was inspired by watery hues and mirrors, Namrata Joshipura's collection was about geometic patterns, texturing and beautiful embellishments. The star of the show was actress and singer Monica Dogra whose live performance with her band called shaa'ir + func set the stage on fire while the models walked the ramp. I have always been a fan of this stylish dusky lady and to watch her live was a treat for me. Actress Nargis Fakhri sizzled on the stage walking the ramp as the show stopper for Pankaj & Nidhi.
Excuse me for the clarity of the pictures for all of these were taken with my mobile since my camera went awry last minute. Grr!! Never mind! There's always a next time.

THE BEST OF MARQUEE| VERO MODA

-STYLE 101-

The  Marquee collection by Karan Johar for Vero Moda is the spotlight of the season.  Be it a brunch, date or a party, it has something for every occasion. And if you were to ask me my favorite, it has to be 'The Future Posh' Collection for it's got just the right amount of bling  required to make you stand out! And if you want to know how I would style these pieces, here's how:
1.Shimmer Skirt: Pair it with a  shirt/tank in white, black or burgundy if you like experimenting. This one's my favorite piece and I think every girl should have something like this in her wardrobe.

2.Shimmer Knit Dress: This dress is perfect for a formal evening party or a date. Pair it with a chunky necklace or keep it minimal with a bold lipstick and burgundy pumps, You can even throw over a leather jacket and pair it with ankle boots for a casual look.

3.Shimmer Silver Blazer: Team it with the shimmer skirt of the same range or any black fitted jacket or pants.  Complete the look with a pair of sexy black stilettoes. You might want to wear it on the New Year's Eve!

'Dress to Impress' says Vero Moda! I Say 'Dress for the Applause!

DAZZLE WITH DIWALI WITH PERNIA’S POP-UP SHOP
- STYLE 101-

Its that time of the year when you just don't mind splurging on all that can make you sparkle amidst the beautiful diya lights and fire crackers. To give you an idea of what you can wear this festive season, I have picked some really amazing stuff from The Pernia's Pop-Up Shop that I'm absolutely in love with. The shop sells the designs of the most talented designers of India curated by stylist
Pernia Qureshi.

Well, if you are still confused and were to ask me how I would dress myself up for the festival, I would go for maybe... a  Maxi dress, a sari with a corset or, an ethnic jacket with pants. Gold, red, black, beige and white with a dash of glitter is what I recommend. I do not prefer too heavily embellished stuff. I don't know!

Coming to the accessories, gold just brings out the beauty of your outfit. This season is about bold jewelry and one of my current favorites is OutHouse . Apart from the outfit and jewelry, skincare is another important thing you shouldn't be neglecting cuz even the prettiest of outfits will not stand out on a bad skin. To make your skin look polished and glowing, try the FOREST ESSENTIALS Facial Treatment Masque that works like magic on your face. Also treat yourself  to a good mani-pedi and a body spa to look your best.  Last but not the least, a good sleep the night before will only make you shine like a diva.

Have a happy and safe Diwali you beau'ful ladies!

LOST IN THE WOODS
-FASHION STORY-

                        FEATURING: VINEGAR FASHION INDIA
CONCEPT, STYLING & MODELING BY ME
    PHOTOGRAPHED BY SAMI KHAN

After a brief hiatus since my last feature where I had showcased the first outfit designed by me, I got a chance to feature this little white dress that I had bought at the Vinegar Fashion India store few months ago. I have always loved the brand for the fact that their outfits fit so well on an Indian body and are not just meant for those model thin figures. Out of all dresses at the store, I happened to pick this pretty dress for it's simplicity, comfort and color that happens to be one of my favorites. We shot this story at the dusk to capture the beauty of the greens and calmness of the mother earth.

I'm barely wearing any makeup on my face in this shoot, that's how I usually like to be- with just a coat of mascara on the eyes and a matte shade of lipcolor in a frosted pink shade. This was my first shoot with the talented photographer- Sami Khan and I loved how he froze every little expression amidst the beautiful elements of nature.

      INTERVIEW WITH SAMI KHAN
-FEATURES-
Ace photographer of Hyderabad and a Modern Artist, Sami Khan knows no boundaries. His photography can be defined as modern, conceptual, artistic, refined and splendid. After being a fan of his work for a long time, I finally got a chance to catch up with this multifaceted man in a personal interview. Here's how the interview went..

v  Tell me a bit about Sami Khan..

I'm just a normal individual and yet have been fortunate enough to experience life in its complete glory. Besides pursuing my fashion shoots with Vogue, and working with big designer brands like Manish Malhotra and few other corporate brands, I pursued modern art in international circuit. Being blessed with good heritage I was nurtured in values and have always conducted myself in accordance to my value system.

v  How would you describe your photography?

Photography has always been a source of inspiration for me although never a hobby. I was always drawn to the fine arts from my very childhood. Photography has a wide range today. From commercial, nature, wildlife, fashion to corporate. I try not to box myself towards singular form. Since I endeavor to make a mark in all challenges I take on.

v  What first drew you towards this profession?

Photography is my greater extension of life. My transition into photography was a matter of surrendering to my over whelming inner desire to exploit my creativity. The most important thing for me is to share my vision photography.

v  What are the 3 most important things you keep in mind while photographing?

Lights, camera, action! J

v  What's the most interesting expression/mood of a model that you love to capture?

To me, expressions and moods as a human trait is a window to the soul. I love to capture as many expressions human beings are capable of.

v  One Indian celebrity that you would love to photograph some day..

Arjun Rampal..Because I think he is one of those celebrities who understand the vision of his photographer.

v  One advice that you would like to give to the budding photographers of Hyderabad…

Photography has capacity to evoke life in a subject. Implicate your vision and soul into photography and let it speak for you. Who knows you might end up with that one perfect.

Check out his photography here and his Modern Art paintings here.

MUSE: CARA DELEVINGNE

-STYLE 101-

Cara Delevingne, the English fashion model who has modeled for an incredible number of brands like Burberry, H&M, Zara, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, is one of my latest muse this season. Her distinctive bushy eyebrows have inspired countless women to ditch their tweezers bringing back the thick brow trend of the 80's.

What I love about her is her effortless off duty tom boyish style that she is so known for. She is mostly seen wearing sneakers, boots, leather jackets, skinny jeans, shorts and a beanie. Here are a few of her pictures that I absolutely adore..
