 TAKE ME SOMEWHERE NICE

How often do we go on a holiday or give ourselves a break from our busy schedules? Not everyone of us takes the liberty of planning out little getaways due to work or sometimes lack of company. Or maybe we love our beds too much to wake up early on a weekend and accommodate time for such activities. This trip to a local resort last weekend came in like an unexpected blissful breather after crazy months of slogging at work. With the weather in Hyderabad getting extremely horrible and with very few places to hangout, there was no reason to say no to this plan.
The beautiful flowers and vibrant greens were so refreshing to the eyes that they made me forget about all the deadlines and usual hustle and bustle of life. The leisure of walking around with a big sunhat and airy maxi dress on and keeping my mobile phone out of reach without a care in the world is what I loved about this trip. The sight of a cool big blue swimming pool made me jump into it like a kid the moment I saw it. Ideally, the best way to counter the heat! Though the resort did not meet our expectations in terms of food and activities, we still did enjoy as much as we could. We started back home in the evening when the sun got dim and the place started to calm down even more.

With this trip, I did realize how important it is to unplug from our busy lives and connect with mother-nature. So here’s a promise I’m making to myself- I’ll treat myself  to a short vacation every once in a while and save up as much as possible to plan out trips to my favorite cities or even countries I’ve always wished to visit. Hope I’ll be able to add travel posts on my blog here on for all of you.

 BACK TO BASICS
LOOKBOOK

It’s a typical Sunday afternoon. Feeling like the laziest person ever but lovin’ every bit of it.

A couple of things I’ve been doing this morning:

- sipping on fresh lime juice
- feeling too lazy to workout
- Ripping my good’ol denims
- listening to the best of The Rolling Stones
- Indulging in some great online shopping
- flipping through my favorite fashion magazines
- planning my upcoming outfit posts
- gorging on the yummiest dessert made by Mum

White Tee - Thrifted
Ripped Denims - DIY
Sunglasses- Thrift
Rosary- Gifted
Sandals- Koovs.com
Backpack- Max Fashion

I’m wearing a basic white tee (that I'm so in love with) and denims that I have been ripping since morning. It’s becoming my favorite Sunday activity to do something creative with old clothes. To complete this very basic look, I wore my favorite matte lipstick in a wine shade and super-comfy jelly sandals I bought last year. I’m carrying my favorite backpack that I’ve been using every single day for the past- I don’t know how many months. It’s kinda become a part of my ‘basics’.

Hope you like the look. Lot more is coming up on the blog. Stay tuned!

 DREAM IS DESTINY
PERSONAL

    Lily Aldridge for Maxim Magazine

Most of us have the tendency to put on that extra flab due to irregular work hours, binge eating and stress. But no matter what, there is no excuse to take things easy when it comes to health and beauty. There are so many cute clothes lying in your wardrobe that do not fit anymore, waiting to be worn again after years. So hit the gym, do yoga, kick boxing, Pilates or whatever works for you. It’s extremely important to take time out for yourself no matter how busy you are. Plan your fitness schedule according to your office or college timings. Have a target set for yourself and keep a count of the number of days you have missed gymming by marking your calendar reguarly.  Have your favorite fashion icon's picture hung in your room to keep yourself inspired and motivated. Be patient and don't lose hope. Working hard always leaves you with long lasting results. Remember, Rome was not built in a day

Concentrate on your diet. Fad diets don't work. Do have lots of grilled chicken, fish, prawns and eggs if you are a non-vegetarian. Avoid rice for dinners. have oats, brown rice instead. Consult your doctor for vitamins that makeup for all that you're missing in your everyday diet. I've a sweet tooth and avoiding a dessert is almost impossible for me. I feel it's ok to indulge and workout a li'l extra

My favorite breakfast is Kellogs K. I throw in some fruits like bananas. strawbs and nuts to make it tastier and healthier.

It's always good to browse through the content available online and try to craft a diet plan that doesn't not contains foods that are difficult to find. We get too lazy to hit the supermarket that's far off to pick up what we need and eventually lose interest. So be realistic.

I always carry some almonds and walnuts in my handbag to satisfy my in-between- work cravings. If you work,  this post I had done few months ago must help you with keeping fit and healthy.

Go on a water cleanse. Most of us don't consume the amount of water our body needs everyday due to our hectic work schedules and lifestyles. However, make sure you have 4 litres of water at least on the weekends. Place four 1 liter bottles in your fridge and keep a count so you finish all four of them. Squeeze in half a lemon and add honey to your water bottle to make it interesting for yourself. Green smoothies are also a good for detoxification.

Have lots of green tea (make sure it's decaffeinated). It eliminates the fat and toxins from the body.

Watch great movies, read good books, magazines, try different skincare remedies to beautify your skin.

Remember that one can never be perfect; however, your hard work and efforts will for sure highlight your beauty camouflaging those little flaws. Stay inspired and keep your spirits high!

Hope you liked this post :)

ARRESTING EYES
 BEAUTY

“Never ask a girl with winged eyeliner why she’s late”

I just wonder what would’ve happened if no eyeliner or kohl existed.  Can’t thank the beautiful Egyptians ladies enough for showing us a way to make our eyes look beautiful. And if I’m to admit, I can’t do a single day without kohl or eyeliner. There are quite a lot looks one can create using a black liner. I'm doing this post so I can look at it every morning and do something new with my eyes everyday before I rush out.

My two favorite products are the Maybelline Colossal Liner that the people at Maybelline recently sent me and the L'Oréal Paris Kajal Magique that I've been using for quite a few months now. The new Colossal liner is extremely fuss-free with a thin soft tip to create the perfect wing and dries the moment you apply it. I also love to experiment with as many colors available with Oriflame, Lakme and Maybelline being my go-to options.

I still struggle to draw identical wings on my eyes but someday. Hopefully I’ll be able to master it someday.

KATE MOSS
STYLE 101

She is a super model, designer and one of the biggest style icons in the world. For all those who follow my page, I’m sure you know how frequently I share pictures of this beauty for I can never get enough of her. Apart from being the face of many fashion brands like Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Calvin Klein, Chanel, Rimmel, and Burberry, Kate Moss also designed her first collection for Topshop.com. With her chiseled face, beautiful lips and stunning body type, she rocks every outfit she wears. Her personal style is more of the 90’s grunge with messy hair and barely there makeup. She is mostly seen wearing leather jackets, denim cutoffs, tees, skinny jeans, stockings, hats, street jewelry and amazingly hot boots.
I could only share so many pictures of this diva in this blogpost for now.  Hope you all loved these.

     JUST ABOUT RIGHT
    STYLE 101

I was asked to do this post months back on what you beautiful ladies on the heavier side must avoid wearing to look slim. I'm so sorry for being li’l late on this. But like they say - better late than never. Here comes the post dedicated to all those lovelies who requested.

Following are the things to keep in mind:

1.Bold prints: Heavy prints like big polka dots, animal prints or anything that has a print near the bust or your belly will make you appear wider and make the whole look go wrong. If you're a fan of prints, go for smaller and delicate ones like this.

2.High necklines: High necklines will make your upper body look a lot heavier than it actually is. Opt for sharp cut V-necklines to create a fitted look. If you like to wear high necklines, go sleeveless to balance out the look.

3.Sleeves:  Puff sleeves, bell sleeves or the ones that end just above your elbow make you arms look big. Opt for sleeveless or well fitted full sleeves/mega sleeves to give your outfit a tailored appearance.

4.Ill fitted garments- Ill fitted clothes will only make you look hefty. Always get your outfits altered if they don't fit well. Never go for outfits that are too tight for you. Fit is important.

5. Shiny fabric: Silk, satin and sequin reflect light and you'll end up looking out of proportion, especially if you are going to be photographed at a wedding or a party. If you love wearing sarees, avoid broad borders completely. Opt for slimmer ones.

6.Horizontal stripes: This is one of the most common mistakes that people on the higher side make. All those ladies who love these, I'm so sorry to break your heart. Horizontal stripes make your body look extremely broad. You can instead go for vertical stripes that gives a slimmer appearance.

7.Colors: Blacks and blues are your best friends if you're on the higher side. Even if you're not, these are must haves in a wardrobe. They'll make you look slim, smart and elegant.

8.Layer Up: This is the best way to create an illusion of a slimmer frame. Invest in well fitted dark colored blazers, cardigans. They work well in any season.

Like Coco Chanel said “Fashion is architecture: It is a matter of proportions”.

No matter how curvy you are, get the proportions right. Research online, try different clothes to see what works for you. There's something out there for every body type. Just takes a li'l hardwork to find what fits, but it's totally worth it. Love your body and stay healthy.

Hope this post helps to an extent. Let me know how you liked it by commenting below.

METAMORPHOSIS
 REVIEW PART 2| L'Oréal Paris

The year has been grueling so far and I got a bit delayed in sharing Part-2 of this review describing my first experience with the Skin Perfect Range by L'Oréal Paris. For all those who missed out reading Part 1 of my review, you can check out the post here. Talking about my skincare routine, I’ve been very regimental with keeping my skin clean and never go to bed without taking off my makeup. Be it only a trace of kohl or a soft pink shade on lips, I just do not allow it to sit on my skin at night. I do make a point to use an eye and lip makeup remover everyday and cleanse my skin with damp cotton and a creamy cleanser. Post that I wash my face off with a homemade scrub or a facewash. Though I love my dusky skin tone and have never tried any whitening or anti-aging creams, running errands all day in the scorching sun, stress and pollution did affect the healthy glow in my skin making it look dull. It is a fact in today’s time that even a 20 something needs a customized skin care range to counter these aging signs.

When L'Oréal Paris India sent me their Skin Perfect range, I was a little skeptical about trying this since I'm not very fond of anti-aging whitening creams and prefer using serums and sunscreen. However, I tried the Anti-Imperfections+ Whitening Cream (for Age 20+) after washing my face with the Whitening Facial Foam (for Age 20+). The facewash did a pretty good job in lifting away the impurities from my skin making it look fresh and clean. The cream just seeped into my skin like a dream as soon as I applied it, leaving it soft and oil-free unlike other products that make your skin look oily the moment you step out in the sun. The facewash and the cream smell like flowers on your skin and the sun protection it offers is another reason why I liked it as one doesn’t need to apply sunscreen additionally. This was my first experience with a product like this and I’m quite happy with it and definitely going to continue using it.  If you have tried the product, do let me know how you felt after using it. I would love to know.
